We got him a tent and then doing the responsible shopper thing came home to look up product reviews online. One word showed up over and over... sieve. As in leaked like one. Yikes!
While we are out we will go ahead and pick up a birthday present for a party the boys were invited to next week. I am also going to continue to try to find a cord for my scanner. When we moved the computer the speakers and scanner both stopped working. Turns out is was the power cord in both cases. Coincidence? I think not. If I had more energy I would try to figure out what happened but as it stands right now I am just going to replace them. Bought new speakers a few weeks ago and am still searching for a 15volt cord for the scanner. I can order one from HP, but the cord is $8 and the shipping is $10. Not a huge amount of money (in fact I have probably spent more than that driving from place to place) but it just seems wrong to pay more for shipping than the product its self. So I will try a few more places and then resign to the fact that I have to order it. I know. Crazy. That's just the way I am though. Deal. I have.

Monday night we had a pretty decent storm. Jeannine and I were at the library with her kids and Ethan for a magic show. I tried to call Marty to let him know we were on the way home and he didn't answer. Repeatedly. Finally he called me from a pay phone to let me know that the power was out.

After I came home we decided that since it was just a few streets (the lines had been hit by a falling tree a few streets down) and since DTE said it would only be three hours or so before they got it back on, we would go out to dinner for Marty's birthday. After dinner we picked up the

Well, I am off to figure out how to get rid of the slugs that are eating my hosta. I also have four flats of annuals out there waiting to be planted. Hopefully it doesn't rain long enough for me to get out there and plant them!

Eggshells are supposed to get rid of slugs. Save all your eggshells, crunch them up, and spread them all over the ground around the hosta stems. The shells are irritatingly sharp and scratchy to the slugs' delicate skin, so they won't crawl over the shells. Hope it works for you.
Thanks for the tip! I will try it this weekend!
